Ripple (2015)

Ripple is the result of a masters course at the Technical University of Eindhoven by Ron Wakkary and Will Odom. The course set out to explore the design of disruptive and radically new types of computational objects. Unaware objects are intentionally designed to function without demanding attention or input from their surroundings. This unawareness offers a less dominant or deterministic role for technologies offering a space for a relationship to develop between object and person. Nita Virtala and I created Ripple: a set of unaware objects that turn at random moments and continue to resonate this movement. Ripple allows for multiple uses, but it is up to you what function you allocate to it.
